The Founder, Webfala Digital Skills for All Initiatives (Wdsfai), an NGO, Mrs Nafisat Bakare, said the organisation has trained 60 secondary school students on climate change in Kwara.
Bakare said the one-day training, held at the basement of University of Ilorin Auditorium, on Thursday, was to commemorate the Do Day Climate Justice Ambassador Summit.
According to her, the training was done in collaboration with Do School, Germany.
She said the summit was to train young people aged between nine years and 16 years to raise awareness about climate change among their peers.

“We invited 20 secondary schools in Kwara to educate them on affects of climate on their environment.
“Our target was for them to become Climate Justice Ambassadors, to combat the menace of climate crisis in the country,” Bakare said.
Mr Abideen Olasupo, a climate campaigner/Executive Director, Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, urged the students to be sensitive to their environment and stop being spiritual about it.
He also advised them to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse, and open their mind to learn more about their environment and climate.
The campaigner also cautioned against hazardous effects of using firewood to cook, saying that the smoke is dangerous to health.
“Gas emission by industries, tree felling and other underrated acts are dangerous to our health. We need to be mindful of them in our daily activities,” he said.
Olasupo, however, urged the students to take the campaign of say ‘No to Air Pollution’ to their colleagues, parents and neighbours.
He said that the global community has embraced climate studies in their educational system/curriculum, and called on education stakeholders in Nigeria to follow suit.
“Include climate studies from the basic classes. Let us learn more about our environment and how to keep it safe,” Olasupo urged.
