The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, aimed at providing financial aid to qualified students in accredited tertiary institutions across the country.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the application process will begin on October 23, 2025, and close on January 31, 2026.

According to NELFUND, fresh students are eligible to apply using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number, even before obtaining their matriculation numbers. The agency also called on tertiary institutions to show flexibility with registration and tuition payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.

Additionally, NELFUND advised institutions that have yet to begin the 2025/2026 academic session to formally submit their approved academic calendars to the Fund to enable proper scheduling and coordination.

The statement further appealed to schools to adopt temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are still being processed, ensuring that financial challenges do not disrupt their academic progress.
