The agency’s spokesperson in Kano, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during coordinated raids on April 10 across several hotspots in the state.
Among the targeted locations were Dan’agundi Construction Site, Gwangwazo Area, Farm Center along Zaria Road, Tashar Rami, and Filin Idi. During the operation, NDLEA operatives seized various illegal substances, including cannabis sativa, ‘suck and die’, rubber solution, and some locally fabricated weapons.
Muhammad-Maigatari said investigations are ongoing to determine the roles of each suspect, with plans to prosecute those found to be involved in drug trafficking.
He added that the agency would refer individuals identified as drug users to its Drug Demand Reduction Programme for proper counseling and rehabilitation, in line with its public health approach to addressing substance abuse.
The NDLEA urged residents to cooperate by reporting suspicious drug-related activities to support efforts to rid communities of illicit drugs.
