The acting Zonal Coordinator of the Northwest Zone, National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB), Alhaji Aliyu Sani, has raised concerns about the low submission of Hausa films for censoring.
He made this statement during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, in Kano.

Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Sani said the purpose of the engagement was to strengthen ties between the two organizations and foster collaboration in film data collection.
He emphasized the significance of censoring and maintaining accurate records of films, noting that such efforts could attract federal government support and open opportunities for northern filmmakers through international partnerships.
“Data collection and regulation are essential for the growth of the northern film industry. We are here to appeal for your cooperation in educating stakeholders about the importance of submitting their works for censoring,” Alhaji Sani stated. He clarified that the NFVCB’s role is primarily regulatory and not focused on revenue generation.
In his response, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha expressed gratitude for the visit and pledged the Kano State Censorship Board’s commitment to supporting the NFVCB’s initiatives. “We are ready to collaborate in all areas that will ensure the development of the film industry,” he assured.
