In his most recent public display of incoherence, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, says Nigerians who oppose the Buhari regime’s borrowings should stop driving Mercedes Benz and Lexus vehicles.

Mr Tinubu made the claim while presenting his campaign manifesto in Abuja on Friday, without providing context or rationale for his claim.

“I stand before you proudly, noting that those who are afraid of the budget, the thoughts of borrowing. Yes, borrowing. If borrowing is a crime, the entire America should be in jail. If borrowing is a crime, stop using Mercedes Benz and Lexus,” Mr Tinubu declared.

Listeners were perplexed as to the connection between the use of specific vehicle brands and concerns about ballooning national debts.

As he struggles with his frail physicality, the former Lagos governor has been questioned about his mental alertness and general health.

Recently, he has made some incoherent references, which has raised concerns among his observers, who believe the 70-year-old is suffering from dementia.

Mr Tinubu caused a stir last week when he said the incoming administration needs Kaduna Governor Nasir El-vision, rufai’s creativity, and resilience in turning “a rotten situation into a bad one.”
