CSP Muhammad Ali was killed by a mob in Rano town, Kano State, after he was accused of torturing a motorcycle mechanic, Abdullahi Musa, to death. The incident, which reportedly took place at the police station, sparked outrage among residents who stormed the facility and attacked the officer, leading to his death.

During its plenary session on Tuesday, the Nasarawa Assembly condemned the killing as a tragic breakdown of law and order. The lawmakers expressed concern over the violence and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to bring all parties involved to justice.

The Assembly extended condolences to the family of the late officer and the Nigeria Police Force, recognizing the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel in the course of their duties. They also acknowledged the community’s grievances over the alleged misconduct that triggered the violent reaction.

The lawmakers called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Kano State Government to conduct a balanced and transparent inquiry into the circumstances that led to the mob attack. They further urged for improved oversight of police conduct and better security measures to protect officers nationwide.

The Assembly believes that holding everyone accountable will restore public trust, uphold the rule of law, and send a clear message that violent acts against security officers and abuses of power by law enforcement will not be tolerated.
