The tablets were earlier seized by operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Area Command, during an attempt to smuggle them into the country. Following the interception on May 28, 2025, the consignment was officially handed over to NAFDAC for further action.

The destruction exercise took place on Wednesday and was witnessed by NAFDAC’s Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, who represented the Director General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Adeyeye, through her representative, expressed appreciation to the Customs Service for its vigilance and cooperation. She noted that the seizure and destruction of the illicit drugs underscored the critical role of collaboration between government agencies in combating drug trafficking.

She reiterated NAFDAC’s dedication to protecting public health and urged the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities to the nearest NAFDAC office to ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.
