Murtala Sule Garo, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has paid tribute to the late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi Bayero, who passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 92.

Garo, who previously served as the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, described the deceased as a respected elder statesman who played a pivotal role in Kano’s development and the preservation of its traditional heritage. He highlighted the late Galadiman Kano’s wisdom, integrity, and leadership, emphasizing that his demise represents a significant loss to both the state and the emirate.
Expressing his condolences, Garo extended sympathies to the family of the late traditional leader, particularly Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano APC Chairman. He also prayed for divine mercy and eternal rest for the departed.
Alhaji Abbas Sunusi Bayero, born in 1933 in Bichi, Kano State, had an illustrious career within the traditional institution. He previously held the title of Wamban Kano before his elevation to Galadiman Kano in 2014.
Throughout his lifetime, he remained dedicated to upholding the values and traditions of Kano’s emirate and made notable contributions to the region’s socio-political landscape.
His funeral prayer, conducted in accordance with Islamic rites, was attended by dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to honor his legacy.
