Four men who use children to beg for alms on the streets have finally been arrested by the Lagos state police command in Lagos.

The men allegedly get minors from villages, get a medical doctor to allegedly inject them with substances that make their stomach swell outrageously, and parade them in road traffic as critically sick, to get alms from motorists.

We could recall that a middle-aged man, Onyedinka Esiala, who hails from Enugu State, was caught on Wednesday using children suffering from fake stomach tumors to beg for alms at Mile 2, Lagos.

While speaking to newsmen on that faithful day, he accused one Uche, his alleged boss, of initiating the scam. He alleged that Uche brings kids to Lagos every year he travels to the Eastern part of the country.

After thorough questioning, Oyedinka was taken to the Nigeria Police Station Area E, Festac by the vanguard reporter and handed him over to the police for further investigation.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest on his verified Twitter page “These men get minors from villages, get a medical doctor to allegedly inject them with substances that make their stomach swell outrageously, and parade them in road traffic as critically sick, to get alms from motorists. Investigation is ongoing. Be careful who you hand over your children to”.
