The management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has ordered the closure of Al-Ansar Indabo female hostels in Kano over alleged acts of indecent behavior and breaches of the university’s code of conduct.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hamza Garba, the university said the decision was necessary to maintain a safe, hygienic, and secure living environment for its students.

The hostels were reportedly involved in multiple violations, including immoral behavior, poor sanitary conditions, inadequate water and electricity supply, and recurrent conflicts among students. There were also concerns about unauthorized student movement during late hours and the use of hostel facilities by unidentified individuals.

The university has directed all affected students to vacate the hostels immediately after completing their examinations. They have also been advised not to return to or engage with the facility in any form.

MAAUN is collaborating with security agencies to enforce the directive and ensure the protection of its students. The institution reiterated its commitment to maintaining a disciplined and secure environment conducive to academic growth and personal development.
