Speaking on Trust TV’s 30 Minutes, Na’Allah said that contrary to public belief, many politicians face serious economic challenges once their time in the National Assembly ends. He noted that while the public assumes political office comes with lasting wealth, the reality for many former lawmakers is financial instability and unmet personal obligations.
He challenged the perception that serving as a lawmaker guarantees automatic riches, pointing out that many individuals enter politics with the expectation of gaining wealth, only to leave office disappointed and financially strained.
Na’Allah explained that the struggle pushes some lawmakers to seek re-election, not for the comfort of the office, but to pursue ambitions for higher political positions. He added that the glamorous image often associated with federal lawmakers does not reflect the financial difficulties many of them face once they are out of office.
The former senator, who served as deputy majority leader in the 8th Senate, lost his re-election bid in 2023 to Garba Maidoki.
