Manchester City will offer club legend, Sergio Aguero, a role as an ambassador after the striker was forced into retirement earlier this season.

Aguero left the Etihad last summer to complete a move to Barcelona but played just five games for the Spanish club before he was forced off during just his fifth appearance.

It emerged afterwards that the 33-year-old had a heart condition, and in an emotional press conference last month, attended by City boss Pep Guardiola, Aguero tearfully announced his retirement from the game.

According to The Sun, his former club are looking to step in and hand him a role that will see him remain in football.

The publication reports that he is set to be offered a role as a club ambassador, alongside the likes of City icon Mike Summerbee and fellow title winners Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards.

Aguero scored 260 goals for City and lifted the Premier League trophy five times during his time in England.

He famously secured the club’s first-ever Premier League title with a last gasp goal against QPR on the final day of the 2011-12 campaign.

He is set to be immortalised by the club, with a statue set to be unveiled later this year, to go alongside those already made of Vincent Kompany and David Silva.

Aguero is currently back in South America, holidaying in Uruguay, following his shock retirement. (AF)
