Daily News 24 reports that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. The statement revealed that the suspect, a resident of Wudil Local Government Area, turned himself in following ongoing clearance raids by police operatives targeting criminal hideouts across the state.

The suspect reportedly confessed to committing a series of heinous acts, including armed robbery, homicide, and theft. He specifically admitted to stabbing a man nicknamed ‘Boka’ to death in Sabon Gari, Kano, and making away with his Infinix Hot 40i mobile phone, which he later sold for N40,000.

In a similar attack at Kurna Quarters in Kano, Umar confessed to killing another victim and selling the stolen Samsung S26 phone for N160,000. He further revealed his involvement in the murder of a man in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, from whom he stole a motorcycle, later sold for N300,000.

The suspect is currently in police custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, where detectives are investigating the authenticity of his confessions and exploring other possible leads.

Reacting to the development, Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended Umar for surrendering and called on others involved in criminal acts to do the same. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, warning that criminals would find no safe haven in Kano.
