A Shari’a Court in Fagge ‘Yan Alluna, located in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, has sentenced a young man, Murtala Sa’idu Tudun Murtala, to prison for attempting to drug a patient in a hospital.

The incident occurred during his visit to a health facility in Kano, where he was apprehended with hard substances while trying to administer them to a patient who was on admission.

Murtala was arraigned by the police and charged with troublemaking and attempted crime. During the court session, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Zaharaddeen Mustapha, read the charges, to which the accused pleaded guilty.

In response, the presiding Khadi, Umar Lawan Abubakar, sentenced Murtala to one year in prison with an option of a N40,000 fine and 30 strokes of the cane. Additionally, he was sentenced to another year in prison without the option of a fine, alongside 20 strokes of the cane.
