A man, Yusuf Usman Kofar Wambai, has appeared before a Kano Shari’a Court in Shahuchi for allegedly impersonating a demon to defraud a woman seeking spiritual intervention.

Wambai, along with an accomplice, Joseph Audu, who is still at large, reportedly collected N338,000 from the complainant under the pretext of providing spiritual assistance. The suspects also allegedly warned the victim against disclosing the matter to anyone.

The charges against Wambai include conspiracy, intimidation, breach of trust, and fraud.

The presiding Khadi, Abdu Abdullahi Wayya, transferred the case to the Upper Shari’a Court in Shahuchi, where Wambai pleaded guilty to the charges.

Khadi Muhammad Sani Abdullahi of the Upper Shari’a Court has ordered Wambai’s remand in prison until January 18, 2025, when judgment will be delivered.
