According to a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Sunday, the release was the result of the President’s direct involvement, including ordering heightened security deployments and recalling a scheduled G20 trip to address security challenges in Kwara and Kebbi States.

AbdulRazaq also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser, DSS, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four tactical teams to the state. He thanked security personnel, religious leaders, and Kwarans for their support during the crisis.

The attack on the church occurred on the evening of November 18, when gunmen stormed CAC Oke-Isegun in Eruku around 6:00 pm, during a live‑streamed service. According to reports, the assailants opened fire, killing at least three worshippers, and abducted dozens including the pastor and other congregants. The kidnappers are demanding N100 million per person, reportedly grouping the victims by family and contacting relatives through the abductees’ own phones.
