Kwankwaso issued the caution following a disputed terror alert released by the Kano State Police Command ahead of the National Tijjaniyya Sufi Order event in the state.
The alert, which was dismissed by the Kano State government, sparked fear among residents and raised questions about the credibility of the police.
Expressing his concerns, Kwankwaso said, “I am concerned by a ‘terror alert’ from the Kano State Police Command. Such conduct by the police… further puts its integrity in doubt.” He called on the police to act professionally and steer clear of partisan conduct in Kano’s affairs.
He also advised the federal government to respect the autonomy of Kano State, stating, “For the umpteenth time, I also urge the Federal Government to avoid dragging itself into unpleasant situations by further putting its hands in affairs that are strictly under the jurisdiction of the good people of Kano State and its government.”
