Speaking on Thursday in Kano when he hosted elders and traditional title holders from Kiru/Bebeji constituency on a solidarity visit, Mr. Kwankwaso described the decision as both “necessary and timely.”

The NNPP chairman in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, had earlier announced Jibrin’s expulsion on September 6, accusing him of persistently attacking the party and its leadership through the media. He also labeled the former lawmaker a “weak politician” who rode on the strength of the Kwankwasiyya movement to secure electoral victories.

Mr. Kwankwaso commended the state leadership for taking action, stressing that loyalty and discipline remain key to sustaining the NNPP. He noted that the expulsion would help the party strengthen its internal structure and reposition for the future.

He further disclosed that the party intends to present a stronger candidate for Kiru/Bebeji in the 2027 elections, ensuring effective representation for the constituency and better service to party members.
