Brewing crises in one of the nation’s oldest political party, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) recently consumed half of its executives.
The former state secretary of the party Alhaji Atiku Ahmad Mai Ahu who announced his resignation and termination of membership in Birnin Kebbi said he was not alone in the resignation spree, his state chairman Alkali Aliyu Galadima, youth leader Murtala Dandare Jega, assistant legal adviser, financial secretary Sahabi Shehu Zogirma, state treasurer Dauda Umar  Yauri, Muhammad Dantani Dugu and Assistant women leader Lantana among the list of those who dropped their batons.
According to Mai Ahu, the National Committee of the party had turned deaf ears to their pleas and cries as some two persons within the National Committee of the party severally intercepted their correspondences which contains the party’s problems in the state, which in essence means as state party excos they don’t have access to the National officials.
He alleged after they nurtured the party to fruition as within the period they served they made sure the party gained huge popularity but “One Professor Attahiru Jega former INEC chairman” has been the one frustrating their efforts.
“Jega has never for once visit us to know how things are going in the party, he also never sit with the factions to meditate in the one-year party crises, consequently we resolved to quit the party and ruled out going to court, we will meet to decide our next step but for now we all have resigned,” he said.
Efforts to get the views of a few excos who are still at the party were not successful.
