The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has swept all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in Saturday’s local government elections conducted across the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed-Mera, the Chairman, Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KSIEC), issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

He said: “You may recall that this Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, electorate in Kebbi State exercised their franchise by voting whom they think fits to rule them at the grassroots freely without interference.

“Eighteen (18) political parties indicated interest to participate in the election. However, seventeen (17) participated actively.

“In view of the compilation of results, which was declared at the ward and local government levels. I wish to announce that All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 21 Chairmanship election and all the 225 Councillorship election across the state.”

The chairman attributed the success recorded in the election to support, cooperation and enormous contribution of all stakeholders, including; security agencies, media, civil society organisations and political parties.

He also appreciated the state government for ensuring that the third tier of government was truly ruled by democratically elected councillors. (NAN)
