The Secretary to Katsina State Government (SSG), Dr Mustapha Inuwa has joined the 2023 governorship race in the state under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Inuwa said this when he presented his notification letter to the state APC leadership on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Katsina.

He said that his decision was in response to numerous calls by the people who wanted him to contest for the highest post in the state.

” Before last Saturday, I have never told anyone that I was interested in contesting for this position. But now, I believe it is the right time for me to express my ambition.

“If you can go round the city and other places, for the past weeks, you will see my posters and billboards, but I have never ask or given anyone, my money to go and do that.

“Some politicians have shown their interests to contest for this position long time ago, while some did same before the present administration was sworn in.

“But for us, this is the right time we think we should answer the call of our people to declare our interest. Therefore, I have to respect my party officially, on my intention, ” he said.

The state APC Chairman, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, said that Inuwa was the first aspirant to officially inform the secretariat of his interest to contest for the governorship seat.

Aliyu said that the action was a sign of respect and loyalty to the party, saying such an act was a sign of courage and determination.

He said that the party leadership would ensure fairness and justice to all aspirants for the governorship and other positions in the state. (NAN)
