Two people have reportedly lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries during a demolition exercise carried out by the Kano State Government in Rimin Zakara, a community on the outskirts of the state capital.

Residents alleged that the victims were shot amid the operation, which took place on Sunday evening, leaving over 50 houses demolished and many people displaced.

They further claimed that property worth millions of naira was lost in the exercise, which they described as a violation of a court order.

Legal representatives of the affected community criticized the government’s action, insisting that the demolition disregarded an ongoing legal process.
