A fatal accident occurred on Muhammadu Buhari Bridge in Kano when a trailer lost control and overturned, leaving multiple casualties.

The incident happened near the Hotoro NNPC underpass as the trailer, loaded with goods and passengers, was heading south. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle overturned while navigating the interchange tunnel, trapping people and cargo beneath it.
A source disclosed that more than 20 people were involved in the crash, with some losing their lives while others were rescued with injuries. The cause of the accident is suspected to be the driver’s inability to control the vehicle while maneuvering through the bridge, which links Ring Road and Zaria Highway.
Local traders in the area lamented that similar crashes frequently occur at the location, often due to drivers misjudging the bridge’s clearance and speeding through the underpass.
The Kano State Fire Service has launched an investigation into the accident. Spokesperson Saminu Yusif Abdullahi confirmed that officials are working to gather more details about the tragic incident.
