A group identified as Concern Rano Citizens has strongly condemned the recent mob attack on the Divisional Police Station in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, which led to the death of the Divisional Police Officer and destruction of police property.

This follows the violence that erupted on Monday after the death of a suspect in police custody, prompting a mob to storm the station, set parts of it and vehicles ablaze, and injure the DPO, who later died at the hospital.

In a statement signed by Comrade Bello Abubakar Maude Rano, the group described the incident as tragic and unrepresentative of the peace-loving people of Rano, known for tolerance, lawfulness, and mutual respect.

The group expressed condolences to the family of the late DPO, the Nigerian Police Force, and the Kano State Police Command, describing the loss as painful and unacceptable.

They urged security agencies to bring those responsible to justice while calling on the youth and general public to remain calm and uphold the values of peace and unity for which Rano is known.
