The Kano State Police Command has called on the public to remain peaceful and patriotic as the Federal High Court prepares to hear sensitive cases related to the emirate tussle.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Thursday, the police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property while warning against any attempts to incite violence.

“In collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, the command will strictly enforce the ban on public protests, processions, and unlawful gatherings imposed by the state government,” the statement read. “Violators and their sponsors will face legal consequences.”

SP Kiyawa emphasized that adequate security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order during the court proceedings. “The public is urged to cooperate with the security forces and provide actionable information to preserve peace and detect deviants.”

He also advised non-state actors, including vigilantes and hunters, to refrain from participating in security operations under any guise.

The police command’s appeal comes amid heightened tensions in the state over the ongoing emirship dispute, underscoring the need for calm and cooperation from all citizens.
