The case involves a Kano-based lawyer, Ahmad Sani Bawa, who accused Abdulwahab Abdullahi and other KAROTA personnel of unlawfully seizing his wristwatches, physically assaulting him, and stealing the sum of N950,000.
Mr. Bawa, through a team of 10 legal representatives led by Barrister Fengak Obadiah Gokir, submitted a petition to the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, said the petition has been acknowledged, and the complainant has already provided a written statement. He added that the accused officials have been invited to record their own statements as part of the ongoing probe.
Meanwhile, KAROTA’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sharada, confirmed that the agency is aware of the petition and pledged that the matter will be handled with transparency once investigations are concluded.
