In a statement issued on Friday, July 11, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Command is aware of the growing controversy surrounding the cleric’s preaching and the reactions it has generated among some groups in the state.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police had invited Sheikh Triumph on July 10 and has since commenced dialogue with key stakeholders, including religious leaders, government officials, and community representatives, to address the situation.

“While acknowledging the rights to freedom of expression and worship, we are also mindful of the need to maintain public peace and order,” the police noted.

The Command advised members of the public to respect the rights and beliefs of others and ensure that any concerns are channeled through the proper authorities instead of spreading inflammatory content or engaging in unlawful behavior, especially on social media platforms.

Reiterating its commitment to peace and justice, the Police Command assured residents that steps are being taken to prevent any escalation of tensions.

“We appeal to the public to cooperate with us in promoting a peaceful and harmonious environment and to work together towards building a more united and cohesive community,” the statement added.
