The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made the announcement on Friday during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Bompai. He stated that the decision was made in collaboration with other security agencies and after consultations with the Kano State Government and key stakeholders.
Bakori explained that intelligence reports indicated a plan by certain groups to exploit the Durbar event to incite unrest in the state. To prevent a breakdown of law and order, security forces have decided to prohibit the traditional horse-riding processions and other Durbar-related activities.
However, he assured residents that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure peaceful Eid prayers at designated grounds. He also urged worshippers to follow security guidelines, including avoiding unnecessary objects that could raise suspicion, refraining from reckless driving, and preventing children from being used for unlawful activities.
“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us prioritize peace and unity above all else,” Bakori said, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies.
The police command encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities via its emergency hotlines or the NPF Rescue Me app, available on the Play Store. It also directed residents to follow the Kano State Police Command on social media for updates.
Bakori concluded by extending his best wishes to the Muslim community ahead of the celebrations.
