The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a man in connection with the death of his elderly grandparents following a violent dispute.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at Kofar Dawanau Quarters. The 30-year-old suspect, identified as Mutawakilu Ibrahim, reportedly clashed with his grandparents, 75-year-old Muhammad Dansokoto and 65-year-old Hadiza Tasidi, over a disagreement related to food. During the argument, Ibrahim allegedly stabbed both victims with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries.
The victims were quickly taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, where medical staff confirmed their deaths. Their bodies were subsequently released to family members for burial in line with Islamic customs.
Police stated that the suspect, believed to have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time, has been arrested. Following directives from the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section for further investigation. The suspect is expected to face charges in court upon completion of the probe.
