Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Bompai. He explained that the arrests followed intensified operations under Operation Kukan Kura, which was launched on July 1, 2025, to strengthen community policing and tackle insecurity across the state.

According to the breakdown, those arrested in August include eight armed robbers, eight kidnappers, three human traffickers, 14 drug traffickers, two car thieves, six motorcycle thieves, five other thieves, and 61 gang members. Police also rescued one victim of human trafficking.

Items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, seven locally made guns, 11 rounds of ammunition, eight vehicles, eight motorcycles, eight cows, 102 cutlasses, 74 knives, 111 parcels and 458 wraps of cannabis, 211 bottles of Sholisho syrup, 257 bottles of Sukudaye syrup, packs of Exol and Diazepam, 44 parcels of Kampala fabric, 59 mobile phones, three POS machines, 17 Opay ATM cards, and other exhibits.

Bakori noted that since the launch of Operation Kukan Kura, the Command has recovered 473 dangerous weapons and large quantities of hard drugs. He said the initiative has been instrumental in curbing crime, particularly reducing gang violence in Kano.

He thanked residents for their cooperation, stressing that intelligence reports from the public have greatly enhanced police efforts.
