Kano Pillars Football Club has suspended its Technical Adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and Chief Coach, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro, with immediate effect following the team’s poor run in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The suspension, announced on Monday in a statement by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, is part of management’s efforts to reposition the team for improved performance.

According to the club, Pillars have played eight league matches so far, recording only two wins, two draws, and four defeats, a result the management described as far below expectations.
In the interim, former club captain and Assistant Coach, Gambo Muhammad, will take charge of the team alongside Goalkeeping Coach, Suleiman Shuaibu. They will be assisted by Coach Garzali Muhammad from Junior Pillars on an ad-hoc basis.
The development comes amid recent sanctions imposed on the club by the NPFL over crowd trouble during a home fixture against Shooting Stars. The penalties include a N9.5 million fine, deduction of three points and three goals, and an order to play their next 10 home matches behind closed doors in Katsina.
Kano Pillars currently sit in 20th position on the league table after nine matches.
