The Kano chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended Abdullahi Bichi, Secretary to the State Government, and Muhammad Diggol, the Commissioner of Transportation.

Hashimu Dungurawa, NNPP chairman in Kano, made the announcement on Monday, explaining that the suspension followed multiple complaints from the party’s ward and local government leadership.
“The duo were suspended because they disrespected the party and its leadership — the party cannot tolerate actions that undermine its leadership and structure,” Dungurawa stated.
He further explained that after receiving formal complaints from their wards and verifying the allegations with the local leadership, the party was left with no option but to take decisive action.
Sulaiman Dambatta, NNPP chairman for Kano North, also defended the suspension, affirming that the allegations against the officials were confirmed.
The suspension comes just 11 days before the Kano LGA elections, scheduled for October 26.
NNPP faction disowns Kwankwaso, burns red cap
Earlier, Daily News 24 reported how a faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s leadership, staging a symbolic burning of the Kwankwasiya movement’s iconic red cap in Minna, Niger State.
The faction, led by Dr. Gilbert Agbo, the factional National Chairman, accused Kwankwaso and his group of undermining the party’s progress.
During the North-Central Zonal meeting at the party’s secretariat, Agbo declared that Kwankwaso’s suspension by the National Working Committee (NWC) in Lagos had effectively ended his membership and influence in the party. “His suspension automatically means he is no longer part of the party’s leadership,” Agbo asserted.
Agbo also announced that Kano State governor, Kabir Yusuf, was set to face the party’s disciplinary committee over alleged violations of the party’s principles. The faction emphasized that burning the Kwankwasiya red caps symbolized their break from Kwankwaso’s leadership.
In response, Mallam Danladi Abdulhamid, the Kwankwasiya Movement leader in Niger State, condemned the faction’s actions, calling Agbo’s leadership “illegal.”
