Announcing her passing during a press briefing at the INEC office in Kano, Ambassador Zango became emotional and could not hold back tears, a moment that also drew tears from several staff members present.

Describing the late Kangiwa as a hardworking and committed officer, Zango said her contributions to the success of past elections in the state would remain unforgettable.

“She was one of our most dedicated officers. Her name will forever be remembered in the history of the commission,” he said.

According to him, the late secretary had earlier complained of malaria symptoms before she died around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The mood at the INEC office in Kano was sombre as colleagues and staff members mourned her loss.
