This measure aims to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the local government elections scheduled to take place in all 484 wards across the 44 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

While the restrictions apply broadly, individuals on official election duties and those providing essential services are exempt.

In a statement, the government encouraged all eligible voters to participate in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of doing so peacefully to bolster democracy in the state.

“We reaffirm our commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and peaceful election,” said Baba Halilu Dantiye, the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs. He urged all citizens to adhere to the movement restrictions, highlighting that compliance is crucial for public safety and electoral integrity.
