Deputy Commandant of the board, Mujahid Aminudeen, who spoke in a telephone interview on Monday, said the suspects were apprehended on Sunday in a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to him, those arrested included 27 men and 35 women. He explained that the operation was triggered by intelligence reports from concerned residents, which led officials to storm the location where the suspects were allegedly engaging in activities deemed contrary to Shari’a law.
Aminudeen stated that some of the suspects reportedly took advantage of the rainfall to indulge in the acts that prompted the raid. He cautioned youths in the state to desist from immoral behaviour, stressing that Hisbah will continue to clamp down on violators of Islamic law.
He further noted that the arrested individuals are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court once the process is concluded.
