The warning was issued by the board’s Director General, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, during a stakeholders’ meeting with chief imams of Friday mosques held at the Tourist Camp conference hall in Kano.
Danbappa explained that the directive for early payment came from both the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Arabian authorities, emphasizing that timely deposits would facilitate smooth planning for transportation, accommodation, and other logistics.
According to him, each intending pilgrim is expected to pay a deposit of N8,244,813.67, stressing that prompt payment will help prevent unnecessary complications as preparations progress.
In a statement issued by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, the Director General reaffirmed the board’s commitment to ensuring a seamless Hajj experience for all pilgrims from Kano State.
Also speaking at the meeting, the NAHCON representative for the Kano zone, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Kalgo, applauded the Kano State Government for its continuous support and dedication to Hajj operations, describing the state as a model in effective planning and public awareness campaigns.
Kalgo urged religious leaders to help sensitize prospective pilgrims on the importance of early payments to enable the authorities to meet international deadlines and sustain the state’s reputation for successful Hajj organization.
