Musa Tanko Muhammad, Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the discovery followed a validation exercise conducted by a Pay Parade Committee set up by the government.

According to the statement, the committee found that 247 individuals who had either retired or passed away continued to receive salaries, amounting to N27,824,395.40 in March alone. The government has since recovered the funds and returned them to the Local Government Treasury.

The statement added that the government remains committed to cleaning up the payroll system and ensuring those behind the fraud are held accountable.

It also revealed that a comprehensive Pay Parade would begin on April 28 as part of broader efforts to promote transparency and safeguard public resources.
