The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, during an unannounced visit to the hospital. He said the decision was prompted by increasing demand from residents for round-the-clock medical attention.
Dr. Yusuf also revealed plans to upgrade the facility from a primary healthcare centre to a general hospital, noting that it serves a large population across Dala, Ungogo, and Gwale Local Government Areas.
While inspecting various sections of the hospital, the Commissioner commended the staff for their dedication despite existing challenges in infrastructure and equipment.
He further assured that the government would renovate the facility and strengthen its workforce by converting temporary staff into permanent positions to boost morale and service delivery.
