The Board’s Chairman, Yusuf Kabir, revealed the plan during the 2025 learning assessment review meeting held in Kano, an event supported by the UK-funded PLANE programme. He explained that although the state recently hired 4,343 teachers, many local government areas still face significant shortages.
Kabir, who was represented by SUBEB Secretary Hajiya Amina Umar, said the board is finalizing arrangements at seven computer-based centres in Wudil, Bichi and other locations where competency tests will be conducted for applicants.
He noted that some schools currently have only one teacher managing as many as 132 pupils. According to him, the board aims to reduce the pupil-teacher ratio to one teacher for 60 pupils as part of efforts to improve learning outcomes across the state.
