The Council’s Secretary, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, announced the decision during a press briefing in Kano on Wednesday. He explained that the suspension became necessary to allow Sheikh Lawan to appear before the Council and respond to claims that he made derogatory remarks about the Prophet.
Sagagi said the cleric would remain suspended until his defense is heard and the investigation is concluded.
He also warned politicians against meddling in the issue, urging them to allow the committee to discharge its responsibilities without interference.
According to him, the Shura Council will ensure the matter is treated with fairness, justice, and without bias.
