The mosque, constructed within the residence of the late Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’abba along Sharada Road, lies directly beside the headquarters of the Hisbah Board. Officials said the decision followed violations of procedures guiding the establishment of Jumu’ah mosques in Kano.
In a statement issued by its chairman, Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji, the commission cited breaches of the 2003 law regulating the approval of Friday prayer mosques. He explained that beyond the failure to comply with laid down procedures, the mosque’s proximity to the Hisbah office, sharing the same boundary wall, contravened the law.
The commission added that formal notifications of the suspension had been forwarded to relevant authorities, including the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone One, the Kano State Police Command, the Emir of Kano’s palace, the State Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano office, for necessary review and enforcement.
