The development was revealed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. According to the statement, Governor Yusuf made the disclosure during an assessment visit to the Joint Task Force (JTF) bases in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas, following recent attacks carried out by bandits.
He urged residents in the affected communities to support security personnel with credible information that could help track the criminals.
Governor Yusuf said he had earlier briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the worsening situation and received a positive response to the requests presented during the meeting.
During the visit, he encouraged the JTF operatives to intensify efforts toward securing the release of the kidnapped victims from Tsanyawa and Shanono.
“We know these attacks have cost innocent lives here in Tsanyawa and Shanono, and many residents were forced into the bush. By God’s grace, those abducted will be rescued and reunited with their families,” he said.
The governor described the recent incidents as an unusual security challenge for Kano, noting that such attacks were previously uncommon in the state. He assured the troops that his administration would continue to support their welfare and operational needs.
Governor Yusuf also visited families whose relatives were abducted, offering condolences and assuring them that the government was working to ensure the victims’ safe return.
Reports indicate that about five residents were kidnapped in Tsanyawa and around ten in Shanono, while one woman lost her life during the attack.
