The Kano State Government has directed that petitions and counter-petitions filed against Islamic cleric Sheikh Lawan Triumph be reviewed by the State Shura Council.
The petitions, submitted by various religious and faith-based groups, followed recent remarks made by the cleric which stirred debate among Islamic organizations in the state.

In a statement signed by Musa Tanko, Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the groups that filed petitions include Safiyatul Islam of Nigeria, Tijjaniya Youth Enlightenment Forum, Interfaith Parties for Peace and Development, Sairul Qalbi Foundation, Habbullah Mateen Foundation, Imams of Juma’at Mosques under the Qadiriyya Movement, Committee of Sunnah Preachers, and Multaqa Ahbab Alsufiyya.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, through the SSG, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, approved that the matter be handled by the Shura Council for thorough study and appropriate recommendations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to peace and harmony, the SSG urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue with their daily activities without fear.
