Through the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, the governor addressed youth cluster leaders during a meeting organized under the Safe Corridor Project, stressing that the period of engaging in thuggery and antisocial behavior must come to an end, Daily Trust reports.
The Safe Corridor Project is designed to tackle thuggery and related social vices with a clear focus on rehabilitation rather than political motives. Waiya assured attendees that those who choose to reform would receive support, including placement in secure environments where they can develop skills and become self-reliant.
He also mentioned an ongoing revalidation exercise to update the list of beneficiaries after discovering that some previously profiled individuals have passed away.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the State Commissioner of Police, and other partners working collaboratively to address drug abuse and youth violence within Kano State.
