The move, according to officials, is designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public spending.
The policy was announced by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammad Tajuddeen Usman, during a public hearing on the 2026 budget proposal in Rano Local Government Area. His statement was later echoed in a release signed by the Zonal Information Officer for Rano Zone, Haruna Gunduwawa.
Commissioner Usman explained that the directive will help curb frequent changes in approved projects, prevent multiple submissions of the same requests, and motivate councils to expand revenue generation efforts beyond federal allocations. He stressed that sustainable development depends on effective and transparent revenue collection.
Also speaking at the event, Engr. Tukur Muhammad Wada commended the initiative, noting that it would enhance public participation in governance. He assured residents that their input would be reflected in shaping the 2026 budget.
