The session drew a deeply emotional atmosphere as people from different parts of Kano came together with a united intention of seeking divine protection. The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, top government officials, clerics, and community leaders were also in attendance, underscoring the importance of the gathering.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said insecurity must not be politicized, stressing the need for unity in confronting the menace. He reiterated his commitment to working closely with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to restore and sustain peace across the state.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in recitation and offered special prayers for an end to threats against peace, asking for stability and protection for the people of Kano. Worshippers expressed hope that the prayers would bring divine relief, lasting peace, and continued guidance for the state’s leaders.
The prayers come in the wake of recent attacks in Kano. On 1 December 2025, armed bandits raided villages in Shanono Local Government Area, including Unguwar Tsamiya in Faruruwa and neighbouring Dabawa, abducting at least 25 residents and injuring two. A few days earlier, Biresawa village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area suffered a night raid with multiple kidnappings.
