The Kano State Government has declared Thursday, June 26, 2025, as a public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.

This was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf congratulated Muslims in the state and across the country for witnessing the new Islamic year, which begins with the month of Muharram.

He encouraged citizens to use the occasion for deep reflection, urging them to assess their actions over the past year and pray for peace, unity, and development in Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
