The Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board has arraigned three private schools in the state over tax default and other alleged offenses.

Daily News 24 reports that the schools taken to court include Crescent International School, Ibni Mas’ud, and Matasa Secondary School Na’ibawa.

The schools were charged on Monday at the Gyadi-Gyadi Magistrate Court number 36 and 39.

Meanwhile, the court ordered the closure of Ibn Mas’ud and Matasa secondary school in Naibawa due to violating the commission’s regulations.

The board had accused the two schools of endangering the lives of pupils and students by placing them in substandard buildings that leak water while they were taking lessons, during an unscheduled visit.

The court has adjourned the hearing to September 9, 2024.

In his remarks, Mr Umar, emphasized that necessary actions will be taken against proprietors of private schools found violating laws.

He also expressed confidence in the state government’s support for enhancing private schools and their management in Kano State.
