The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, met with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribado, at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja on May 30, 2024.

The meeting, which lasted over an hour, was prompted by the recent developments in Kano following the dissolution of five emirates and the restoration of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the two leaders discussed various matters relating to state and national development, as well as peaceful coexistence.

The meeting comes after the National Security Adviser was accused of involvement in the Kano crisis, which was later discredited by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Prior to the meeting, the Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, apologized to the NSA for implicating him in the crisis, attributing the error to flawed intelligence.

The Governor’s meeting with the NSA coincided with Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II’s six-day stay at the Kano palace, where a majority of district heads and kingmakers pledged their allegiance to the newly consolidated Kano Emirate.

The Governor via his verified instagram handle described the meeting as “fruitful” and briefed the National Security Adviser on the recent developments in Kano.

The state government assured that Kano has been characterized by peace and tranquility, and urged all residents to continue their regular activities in compliance with the rule of law.

The meeting is seen as a positive step towards resolving the crisis and promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.
