A gas explosion at Goron Dutse Quarters in Kano has claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and left 21 others with serious injuries.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the residence of Malam Isiyaka Rabiu.
According to the police, the explosion was triggered by a gas cylinder blast in the kitchen, causing a fire that quickly spread through parts of the house before emergency responders contained it.
A police team, led by ACP Nuhu Mohammed Digi, arrived at the scene alongside firefighters to assist in the rescue operation. The injured victims were rushed to Gamji Hospital, Dala Orthopaedic Hospital, and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have since restored order in the area, with the police extending condolences to the deceased’s family and commending the swift intervention of emergency responders.
